An older sister - Perry, and an older brother - Scott, and a younger sister - Cecily.

WHAT IS YOUR PARENTS' OCCUPATION?

My father was in the Air Force and then became a corporate executive. My mother is a housewife.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST PLAY BASS?

I started out playing guitar at the age of twelve. However, as there was only one band in the town I lived, and they needed a bass player, I took up the bass.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BAND?

My first band was Sam Citrus and the Merciless Tangerine. I was 14. We played Stones and Beatles covers.

DO YOU PLAY ANY OTHER INSTRUMENTS?

I can play the keyboards - a little.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BASS?

My first bass was a Fender Precision. I borrowed it from a friend and then later bought it from him.

WHEN DID YOU MOVE TO BOSTON?

I was going to study drama and had been accepted into two acting schools. However, I always wanted to be in a band so, when the opportunity came up, I decided to go to Boston with Joe Perry instead.

WHAT BANDS WERE YOU IN PRIOR TO AEROSMITH?

I was in four bands before Aerosmith: Sam Citrus and the Merciless Tangerine, Pipedream, Plastic Glass, and The Jam Band, all with drummer Dave Scott and Joe Perry.

HOW DID YOU COME TO FORM AEROSMITH?

I had been in bands with Joe Perry for four years when we saw Steven playing at The Barn in the summer of 1970. The Jam Band broke up and Joe and I moved to Boston. At the same time, Steven's band fell apart so we joined together.

WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME YOU CUT SOMETHING IN THE STUDIO?

With Aerosmith at Intermedia in Boston.

WHEN WAS THE FIRST TIME YOU WENT ON TOUR?

With Aerosmith.

WHAT DID YOU LEARN FROM PLAYING LIVE THAT SURPRISED YOU?

I learned that my amplifier was too small.

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST GIG BEFORE AEROSMITH?

At a theater in Buffalo which was when I learned that my amplifier was too small.

At Nipmuc Regional High School.

I like to learn languages - I can speak some French and Spanish. when I was younger, Joe Perry used to call me Tom Hamboneltan. I can make my eyeballs vibrate. I collect WWII paraphernalia. Something I don't even know myself...
